I could not complete this project,bat detector kit had too many components cramped into a small space,It was near impossible to solder kit without bridging the tracks,I gave up on it and tossed it in the bin,the circuit board needs to be larger and they need to make all controls panel mount,worst kit I have ever tried to put together

My thoughts on the Ultrasonic Bat Detector Receiver

The kit arrived well packed and after checking all the components it was complete. No instructions are included but a construction manual is available on line. I found it helpful to print the PC component board layout. All the resistors are on one strip so I cut the seperate values out with scissors. Save the plain wire links you will need them later on. Be careful with the polarity of the electrolytic capacitors. Take care with the soldering as some pads are very close together. Soldering in the two microphones is tricky. Follow the instructions by creating two loops and holding the microphones in place with Blue Tack and solder in using a very fine iron tip. The Bat detector requires only 4.5V using three AA batteries, not supplied. After powering up and seeing the red LED light up I was pleased to find it worked first go. No Bats were available but was surprised to hear ultrasonic noise coming from some LED house light bulbs! I would liked to have purchased a case to protect the PCB . Skin is conducive and could damage the IC’s when touching the pins when in use. Plans are available on line to 3D print your own case. Looking forward to checking out all sorts of things for ultrasonic noises. An interesting project and well thought out, Jonny1001.PS, at 78 i’m grateful my eyes were up to the task!
