Add child safe power to your e-textiles and paper circuits with this sewable JST PH 2.0 socket. This socket is an alternative to coin cell batteries and allows you to use longer-lasting battery holders with dry cell batteries e.g., 2 x AAA at around 3V. Just sew a simple pocket or pair sewable velcro with adhesive velcro on your battery holder.
You can use this socket with our Electro Fashion and Chibitronics ranges in place of coin cell batteries. Please be aware that alkaline cells have a slightly higher voltage of 1.5V for an AAA battery and rechargeable batteries can be closer to 1.2V. If in doubt, stick to the lower voltage batteries unless you need extra long conductive thread or tape runs with more LEDs. For longer term water resistance we recommend that you use stainless steel conductive thread.
For convenient switching you can use a switchable battery holder, sew a switch into your circuit, and add conductive fabric or tactile buttons for momentary switching. You will need to test conductive thread or tape distances with your chosen LEDs and other components and your chosen power supply. The socket will also fit compatible lithium polymer cells but just make sure they are rated and encased correctly to reduce the risk of short circuit or ignition.
Two holes are marked positive (+) and negative (-) and can be mounted to allow flexing or with the non-live end hole sewn into fabric for more stability. Colours may differ between light or dark mode, depending on stock.
